THE NUMBER OF TRAFFIC-RELATED DEATHS INCREASED DRAMATICALLY IN 2015

From 2014 through 2015, the number of traffic-related deaths increased by 7.2-percent. Within the different classes of people killed as a result of traffic-related incidents, the numbers are staggering.
The number of deaths involving passenger vehicles in 2015 was the highest number since 2009. Motorcyclist deaths increased by 8.3-percent increase, and motorcyclist deaths are at the highest number since 2012. Pedestrian deaths increased by 9.5-percent to the highest level since 1996. Cyclist deaths increased by 12.2-percent to the highest number since 1995.
Its really hard to say what it causing the increase, but there was an year-over-year increase in alcohol-related traffic deaths, a huge increase in motorcycle and truck-related deaths. The distracted driving increase is below:
There were 4,067 deaths involving large trucks, which is 4.1 percent more fatalities than in 2014. That marks the largest increase since 2008.
