37-Week Pregnant Woman Involved In A Three Vehicle Car Accident in Macon, GA
In Macon, Ga, at approximately 2:30 PM, a three vehicle car accident ensued westbound of Interstate 16 near Interstate 75 in Macon. The car accident involved four people, two women and two younger children.
A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 28-year-old Katherine Collier, was headed down Interstate 16, when she rear-ended a 2000 Honda Accord being driven by 23-year-old Jacquelin Mayen. Collier’s Jeep crashed into the back of the Mayen’s Honda, ending up on top of the Honda’s trunk. In response to the impact, the Honda then collided into the back of a 53-foot tractor trailer driven by 39-year-old Sparkle Quick.
The Honda was crushed between the Jeep and tractor trailer, temporarily trapping 37 week pregnant Mayen in the Honda as the door would not budge open. Thankfully, Mayen wasn’t pinned in her vehicle, and was reported to be stable when she left the scene, not suffering any major injures. Quick also did not seem to uninjured.
Collier was driving with two young kids, a 3-year-old and 1-year-old strapped in the back seat when the accident occurred. The kids did not suffer any major injuries, however, they were still transported to the hospital with Collier in an ambulance in order to get checked out. Collier’s conditions have not been identified.
Traffic citations were not given out after the accident, and the situation still continues to be investigated.
