Augusta Prep Golf Team Accident in Macon, GA

On March 23, 2018, at approximately 12:00 PM, an Augusta prep bus crashed into a pick-up truck that was parked in the southbound lane of Highway 49. The accident occurred on the outskirts of Macon, GA.
The Augusta prep bus was heading towards Perry, Georgia with the school’s golf team on board for their golf match. As the bus was going up a hill, the bus driver was unable to see the pick up truck and its trailer at the top of the hill. Once the bus driver came out of their blind spot, it was too late, and the bus crashed into the back of the trailer full of cement blocks. The bus, then, spun into the opposite lane.
Six people got sent to Navicent health, including the bus driver and the team’s coach, Chuck Mason. Coach Chuck Mason suffered the major injuries in comparison to the other passengers on the bus.The four students and the bus driver were released from the hospital, however, the coach stays in critical condition.
