Question: Should I go to a pain clinic after a car accident?
Answer: If you are in constant pain, you cannot relief, and you do not have another viable alternative, a pain clinic may be a reasonable place for you to seek treatment. However, if possible, you should avoid pain clinics after your car accident. Pain can be debilitating and make us desperate for relief. This is not uncommon. Unfortunately, far too many people hurt in car accidents do not have proper insurance to cover their treatment. As a result, many people look to facilities that will treat them on a lien and those expenses will be paid after the case is concluded. Many of these places are pain clinics or specifically car accident clinics.
Make no mistake: most of these places are mills. They make a lot of money off people that have been injured in car accidents by cycling through a lot of people and, typically, providing as quick of car as possible. But, what if you are really hurt in a car accident?
If you are really injured in a car wreck, a pain clinic or a car accident clinic may actually hurt your case. It may cause an insurer to be extremely skeptical about your claim. They may question whether you were/are really hurt because the insurer is used to dealing with claims from those facilities that do not appear legitimate.
