Head-On Car Wreck in Macon, GA Leaves One Survivor

In Macon, Georgia, at approximately 8:20 AM, police were called in for a head on collision that occurred between Abernathy Road and Jeffrey Way. The accident resulted in the death of two victims, while leaving a ten-month old baby in critical condition.
50-year-old, Howard M. Zach, was headed south as 24-year-old Carole Foster was headed north on Highway 83. Zach’s 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche collided with Foster’s 2006 Nissan Altima head on, causing a significant amount of damage to the front end of each car. The collision trapped Carole Foster in her Nissan Altima and was pronounced dead at the scene.The accident’s impact also resulted in the death of the other driver, Howard M. Smith.
The 10-month-old boy traveling with Foster was airlifted from Monroe County hospital and transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for further medical attention. Unfortunately, after being in critical conditions for days, the child died. The only survivor of the accident was Carole’s son, William Foster.
The highway was shut down for two hours as police officers continue to investigate the scene.
