Man Injured In Chain Reaction Crash Involving 2 Tractor Trailers in Macon, GA
Reported on September 22nd, a man suffered major injuries due to a chain reaction collision that involved two cars and two tractor trailers on I75 southbound in Macon, Georgia.
The accident was said to have occurred a little before 1:15 PM as reports stated that several people began calling in to report the crash scene around that time.
Bibb County Sheriff, Lt. Randy Gonzalez, stated that the accident occurred when a Hapag-Lloyd Co. semi truck began to slow down on the road due to mechanical problems.
As the Hapag-Lloyd semi truck began slowing down, a tractor-trailer carrying cars driving behind the semi-truck decided to switch to the right lane in order to avoid a collision. While switching to the exit only lane, the car-carrier truck hit a black Nissan. Following after, a white Toyota Prius that was following behind the car carrier truck collided into the Hapag-Lloyd Co. semi-truck.
Interstate 7 southbound ended up being blocked between Arkwright Road and Pierce Avenue after the accident in order to respond to one of the driver’s injuries in the accident.
The driver of the White Prius suffered major car injuries, requiring Macon-Bibb Country firefighters to extricate the man out of the Prius, transporting him to Navicent Health Medical Center for closer observations and treatment. The specificity of the injuries is still unknown, but it was reported by officials that the White Prius driver was able to reach stable condition that evening around 6 PM.
The injuries and conditions of Hapag Lloyd Co. truck, car-carrier truck, and the black Nissan drivers have yet to be reported.
