MOTORCYCLE DEATHS IN THE U.S. | MOTORCYCLE FATALITY LAWYER

By Ben Sessions on February 2nd, 2016 in Car / Auto Accident

While the number of fatalities in cars has fairly steadily declined since 1975, the number of motorcycle deaths in the United States has remained fairly steady.

Below is a chart that breaks down the number of deaths on motorcycles in the United States according to age and gender:

WHY HAS THE NUMBER OF MOTORCYCLE DEATHS REMAINED VIRTUALLY STEADY WHILE THE NUMBER OF TRADITIONAL CAR DEATHS HAS DECLINED?

The number of deaths associated with motorcycle deaths is exponentially larger than the number of deaths associated with car accidents. That is a fact recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the United States Department of Transportation. Certainly, we all recognize that motorcycles provide less protection that traditional vehicles, and they are provide less stability to drivers. But, one problem that remains is the lack of uniformity in the laws requiring helmets while riding motorcycles, and head injuries remain one of the primary causes of motorcycle deaths.
