MUST A GEORGIA DUI SCHOOL BE AN IN-PERSON CLASS?

By Ben Sessions on January 3rd, 2017 in Uncategorized

Georgia’s DUI school programs are, generally speaking, include the Assessment Component (NEEDS Assessment) and the Intervention Component. In order to obtain a DUI school completion certificate, you must complete both the assessment and intervention portions of the course. The assessment portion of the DUI school (risk reduction course) must be completed first. The assessment portion of the DUI school (risk reduction course consists of 130 questions that are intended to provide a comprehensive screening of a person’s potential alcohol and/or drug problem and the potential for those dependency issues, if any, to impact the person’s driving decisions.

The intervention component of the DUI school (risk reduction course) follows the assessment portion. The intervention component of the DUI school (risk reduction course) is 20 hours in length. It involves several sessions spanning several days and the classes or sessions are administered in a group environment. The intervention component of the DUI school (risk reduction course) is intended to offer therapeutic education and peer-group counseling about alcohol and drug use and its effect on driving.

Many people ask if the Georgia DUI school (risk reduction program) may be performed online. Currently, the DUI school (risk reduction program) may only be completed through an in-person course.
