SUV Hydroplanes into Macon Restaurant
By Ben Sessions on June 8th, 2018 in Car / Auto Accident
Several years back, Jim Shaw had a truck crash into the front fencing of his restaurant, tearing the paneling. No injuries were reported, but the restaurant was in need of repairs after the incident. This, however, would not be the last time the seafood restaurant would experience an accident like this, as a similar accident has reoccurred recently on May 29, 2018.
A little before 6 AM, 31-year-old, Tiffany Knight, was headed northwest on Vineville Avenue when she hydroplaned from the wet pavement. This caused her to lose control of her Dodge Durango, swerving off the road. The result was a blow to the back porch/sun room area at Jim Shaw’s seafood restaurant.
Once Knight lost control of her vehicle, the Dodge Durango swerved into the direction of a utility pole past Speer Avenue, clipping it before entering the parking lot of the seafood restaurant. The vehicle then proceeded to hit one of the restaurant worker’s parked car, causing Knight’s vehicle to further spin out of control, hitting the planters and the bench outside the bar door.
The SUV barely grazed the main brick frame of the restaurant, causing little to no damage to it. However, the porch’s wooden frame has been completely dismantled. The owner seemed prepared for the incident as he immediately hired a work crew to clean up the wooden pieces of the porch, and continued to open for business.
The utility pole that was clipped showed little need of repair after Georgia Power inspected it and thankfully, no one was injured in the duration of the accident.
