MAKING A CLAIM WITH PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE

By Ben Sessions on October 10th, 2016 in Uncategorized

DO YOU NEED HELP MAKING A CLAIM WITH PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE?

If you are covered by Progressive Insurance and you have been involved in an car accident, you need to know how to notify them of the claim. Making a claim with Progressive Insurance Company, or notifying the company of a covered incident is not overly complex but it is vital.

Progressive Insurance provides a good amount of information about the claims process on its website: https://www.progressive.com/claims/. In the event that you are not comfortable making a claim online, you can notify them of the claim by calling them at 1-800-274-4499.

I WAS NOT AT FAULT IN A CAR WRECK, BUT THE AT-FAULT DRIVER WAS COVERED BY PROGRESSIVE. SHOULD I CALL PROGRESSIVE TO NOTIFY THEM OF THE ACCIDENT?

You should be very careful about speaking with any insurer, and you have to assume that every insurer will record your conversations. Anything that you say to the insurer can be used against you in your claim against them or their insured later. You have an obligation to notify your insurance carrier of the accident, but you do not have a duty to notify the at-fault driver’s insurance company of the accident. Despite not having a duty to notify the at-fault driver’s insurance company of the accident, you absolutely want the insurer to receive timely notice of the covered accident. This is why having an attorney act on your behalf can be essential.

If you have questions about your accident or how to properly notify an insurer of the accident, The Sessions Law Firm can help.
