If you have been arrested in Warner Robins, Perry, Centerville, or anywhere in Houston County, what happens in the first weeks of the case often decides how it ends. Sessions & Fleischman defends misdemeanor and felony charges throughout Houston County from our Macon office at 544 Mulberry Street, about 20 minutes up I-75.

You will work directly with an attorney, not a case manager. Ben Sessions has tried more than 60 jury trials and is a Board Certified DUI Defense Specialist, one of only four in Georgia. Andrew Fleischman leads the firm’s appellate work, so trial decisions are made with a possible appeal in mind.

Where Houston County Criminal Cases Are Heard

Houston County is its own judicial circuit — the Houston Judicial Circuit — so the judges, prosecutors, and local practices are specific to this county. Most criminal cases are handled at the Houston County Courthouse at 201 N. Perry Parkway in Perry, even when the arrest happened in Warner Robins.

  • Superior Court of Houston County hears felonies — drug possession with intent and trafficking, aggravated assault, burglary, felony theft, and other serious charges. Felonies are typically indicted by a grand jury.
  • State Court of Houston County hears misdemeanors, including most DUI charges, simple battery, shoplifting, and traffic offenses.
  • Warner Robins Municipal Court and the other city courts handle many traffic citations and city ordinance violations written inside city limits.
  • Magistrate Court handles first appearances, many bond questions, and warrant applications.

Arrests on or Near Robins Air Force Base

Warner Robins is a military town, and that changes some cases. Certain offenses committed on Robins Air Force Base are prosecuted in federal court rather than in Houston County. For service members and civilian base employees, even a misdemeanor off base can trigger command action, security clearance reviews, or loss of base driving privileges. We take those consequences into account from the start, not after a plea.

What Happens After an Arrest

First appearance and bond

Most people arrested in Houston County see a judge within 48 to 72 hours. Some charges can only be bonded by a Superior Court judge. If someone you care about is in the Houston County Detention Center, our guide to bond in a Georgia criminal case explains the process — and a bond motion is often the first thing we file.

Arraignment and motions

At arraignment you enter a plea. Georgia’s deadlines for pretrial motions run from arraignment, and missing them can waive challenges to an unlawful stop, search, or statement.

Negotiation or trial

Many cases resolve through reduced charges, first offender treatment, conditional discharge, or pretrial diversion. When the State will not make a fair offer, we are prepared to try the case to a Houston County jury.

Charges We Defend in Warner Robins and Houston County

  • DUI and serious traffic offenses
  • Drug possession, possession with intent, and trafficking
  • Family violence battery and assault
  • Aggravated assault and weapons charges
  • Theft, shoplifting, burglary, and fraud
  • Sex offenses
  • Vehicular homicide and serious injury by vehicle
  • Probation violations
  • Appeals and post-conviction relief

Protecting Your Record

For many clients the real goal is keeping a conviction off their record. Depending on the charge and your history, options can include Georgia’s First Offender Act, conditional discharge for certain drug charges, pretrial diversion, and record restriction after a dismissal. Each has eligibility rules and timing requirements, so they need to be raised early.

Nearby Areas We Serve

We also defend cases in Bibb County (see our Macon criminal defense page), Peach County, Twiggs County, Monroe County (Forsyth), Laurens County (Dublin), and Baldwin County through our Milledgeville office. If you were hurt rather than charged, see our Warner Robins personal injury page.
